CASEY STEALS THE SHOW

(Listen to the song)
I wrote this song in 1982. Now, 31 years later I finally got around to recording it. I had sprained my left wrist (my fretting hand) while restoring a redwood planter box before I started the recording, so the guitar part was really a labor of love!  Another thing this prompted me to do was to record the bass line first. So I think I came up with a more unique bass line than if I had recorded the guitar first as I normally do. And I used a heavy metal drumbeat preset slowed WAY down which produced a really cool hard bluesy sound. Of course the drumbeat ended up getting heavily edited so it doesn't sound too much like the preset anymore.

The song is a fictional account of the kind of girl that thinks she's "all that" and enjoys using her feminine wiles to manipulate men and then dump them when she's through with them. And although I've come across a few women like that, the story is entirely made up. This is one of my few remaining secular songs which was waiting to be recorded, so it ended up on my REGGIE'S GREATEST FLOPS album. So currently after downloading this one, I have 67 out of 80 recorded. Almost time to start writing some new stuff! Here are the lyrics:

CASEY STEALS THE SHOW
© 1982 Words & Music by Reginald M. Michaud

Casey steals the show as she walks into a room
With her head held high, she’s pleasing to the eye
She can see into your soul as she moves in for the kill
Doesn’t even use a word as she sets the mood to suit herself

Casey you’re always on my mind
How can I work with your body so close to mine
Won’t you stay here alone with me tonight
Drink some wine maybe this time get it right

Casey stole my heart when we made that silent vow
Then she cast me off; just like a worn out shawl
She is far across the sea, on the hunt in foreign lands
Doesn’t even use a word as she circles round another man

Casey you’re always on my mind
How can I work with your body so far from mine
Didn’t you stay here alone with me that night
Maybe more red wine will make me feel all right

Oh Casey; Casey; Casey; Oh Casey
Oh Casey; Casey; Casey; Oh Casey
Oh Casey; Casey; Casey; Oh Casey
Oh Casey; Casey; Casey; Oh Casey
