FEET ON OUR FAITH

Listen to the song; #3 on WORSHIP ROCKS

1991 - Attempting to put a new twist on the idea that “faith without works is dead”, I wrote this song. The personification of an intangible subject such as faith was a bit of a stretch. In your mind you can imagine a pair of feet attached to… I have no idea how to conjure a picture of faith; maybe a winged heart with clouds adorning its edges. But the idea is really not all that abstract. If you truly believe something you will walk it out right? Then I pulled in the Ephesians 6 metaphors of the armor of God. Like I said it was a stretch, but at the time I felt compelled to always try and expand the parameters of acceptable lyrics in the realm of worship music. Sometimes it worked; sometimes it sank like a cup of custard in a starving glutton’s belly! I remember playing this one for Mark Hoffman at Mike & Libby Stucky’s house just before one of our home fellowship meetings. Then I played it for the fellowship a couple times and decided it would be better suited as a non-worship song. It almost sounds like a marching song and might be fun to use in a children’s church setting. Oh well, no apologies from me… and as my beautiful wife would say, “it is what it is!” I have slated this song for the Worship Rocks album which I am currently recording as of this writing (May 2011). I should be able to post it to my music site within a week or so!

FEET ON OUR FAITH
Words & Music by Reggie Michaud © 1991

On the road to the promised land Sometimes just plodding along
A step ahead and then two steps back This pace has gotta be wrong
I wanna walk in my Savior’s shoes I wanna see through His eyes
I’m gonna do what the Father says Ignore the enemy’s lies

Let’s put feet on our faith and walk in it
Let’s get rid of the pride that’s blocking it
Let’s all open our eyes and look to Him
Let’s give in to the Lord

Wear the helmet of salvation
Spread good news to all the Nations
With the shield of faith protecting us
Raise our spiritual sword

If we love Him, we’ll obey Him
And we won’t give in to the world
He will lift us up Overfill our cup
And we’ll spread His Name to the world

Let’s put feet on our faith and walk in it
Let’s get rid of the pride that’s blocking it
Let’s all open our eyes and look to Him
Let’s give in to the Lord

Wear the helmet of salvation
Spread good news to all the Nations
With the shield of faith protecting us
Raise our spiritual sword
