Another song that started out in the early days of jamming at Mark Crafford’s “bandhouse”, just off Greenfield drive in the Granite Hills area of El Cajon. It was just a finger picking diddie that I worked out to achieve a sound I heard in my mind. I could hear it but it took a while to get my fingers to get with the program! I wanted to come up with a “special” for Father’s Day one year and the finger picking tune lent itself well to the idea I came up with. It was admonishing fathers to receive from the Lord so they could have wisdom to impart to their children. Again I was drawing comparisons; this time juxtaposing the relationship between a father and his children with the relationship between us and God. The song also brings up the idea that our children aren't really ours at all but they are God’s children and what an awesome responsibility He entrusts us with in raising them! Another biblical truth that comes forth is “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he shall not depart from it.” Prov 22:6
Here are a few current events from that monumental year…

Now for the lyrics…
IN THE HEARTS OF FATHERS
© 1995 Words & Music by Reginald M. Michaud
In the hearts of fathers, Jesus shine your light.
Help us raise our children with your truth and life.
Teaching them as they grow, teaching them in your way.
Making them stronger day by day.
In the hearts of fathers, Jesus shine your grace.
Overcome our weakness as we seek your face.
Teaching us as we grow, teaching us in your way.
Making us stronger day by day.
Deep inside the hearts of fathers hide your Holy Spirit Lord.
Place inside a holy vision as we raise your precious children.
As they grow in wisdom, they will never stray.
Raising our grandchildren in their father’s way.
Teaching them as they grow, teaching them in your way.
Making them stronger day by day.
